Research - Bullying

If you are a victim of bullying, please, please seek help, inform your parents, management. Don't keep it to yourself. Please.

Simply put, Bullying is to harm someone intentionally physically, verbally or mentally. This can be in a work environment, home, streets, or most commonly in schools.

Bullying is a widely spread problem that has very drastic consequences.

In one large study, about 49% of children in grades 4–12 reported being bullied by other students at school at least once during the past month, whereas 30.8% reported bullying others during that time.

Although these statistics don't look like a lot, keep in mind these children are around 6-8 years old, their minds are young and being attacked and/or intimidated by someone can have a life long lasting effect.

In 2014, A national bullying survey by BullyingUK found that 40% of young people who reported being bullied experienced thoughts of suicide and 39% had self-harmed. Another recent study in Britain found that around 50% of the suicide victims very bullied.

People who bully others are called Bullies. Every year, millions of people are bullied i.e. physically beaten, called racial slurs, socially deprived and more just because of either their Race, Religion, Skin Color, Accent, Nationality among many others.

As we can already see, bullying is a very widespread problem. with the development of comtemporary internet, it is now more easier than ever to connect, byt this comes with the price of privacy inavnsion, being vulnerable oo world, anyone being able to contact you. This easily leads to Cyberbulllying, defined as the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Online threats and mean, aggressive, or rude texts, tweets, posts, or messages all count. So does posting personal information, pictures, or videos designed to hurt or embarrass someone else.

This following graph shows the percentage of parents that report their child has been a victim of cyberbullying between 2011-2018:

Although concerned authorities and NGOs have taken iniatiatives to prevent suicide and psychological harm towards Bullied Victims by creating 24/7 helplines, hotlines that will talk to you, raising awaareness through campaigns, this is only helpful if they cases are reported. Annually thousands, if not millions, cases go unreported just because the victim is too embarassed to come infront or scared and this does really act as a silent killer.

I really wanted to raise awareness againt bullying and show how bullying effect a person outside the bulllying envionment.
